On Tuesday, we went to the “Aula Magna” to make some mixed groups, in which there were three or four people, each one from a different country.
On Thursday before lunch, we went to the school library.
Pepe Trívez, the Spanish language teacher, was waiting for us, because he was in charge of the activity we were going to do: a debate about European politic topics, for example, legalizing drugs in the UE, or the holidays in each country.
We were supposed to read some questions about different topics and look for some information about them at the internet quickly.We had to take out three things from an envelope: topic time and language.
We were very nervous because we didn´t know what topic we had to explain, and the most important thing, we didn´t know which language we had to speak in, but we thought that hopefully it would be a language that we knew. Those languages were Spanish, English, French and German.
The first topics had to be explained in French, so it was a bit difficult because there were some groups where there weren´t any French students , but we finally did it well.
After each explanation, we could translate the last one into another language, so many groups did it and they got a lot of points more than the ones they got for their discussions.
At the end, most groups had many pints, but two of them got six pints, so they were the ones who won the game.
This activity was very interesting for us and we learnt a lot about it. Moreover, we have been told this activity will be useful in our future, because we will have to work with foreign people and in other languages.
We liked it very much and we hope we will do something similar again.
In Sweden we usually do debates like this in both Swedish and English class. And in Germany they do it too. There is only Spain who does not do it.
